Version 2020.7

What's new

  • Stability improvements: Stability is always a top priority for us. We're working hard to avoid states where your Grunts become images and you can no longer change them. This version marks a significant milestone where we have solved all known edge cases.
  • Better collaboration: Collaborating with your colleagues in the same presentation at the same time is a hard problem to solve, but with this release we've taken significant strides. We can finally announce that we support collaboration in the same PowerPoint-files when they are saved on SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
  • Faster pasting and updating from Excel: We're so happy to release this. Pasting data from Excel as a Visual Grid should now be almost immediate. We've also substantially improved the time it takes to update Excel-connected Visual Grids and Charts (more than 50% reduction in time).
  • Faster startup: We have improved the startup time when loading presentations that have many Grunts in them.
  • Named ranges: You can now user Named ranges in Excel as a source of data. Just name a range before you copy-paste it as a Visual Grid or Chart (using the Name manager in Excel). This has substantial benefits when updating the source range since Grunt will be better at tracking changes that happen in Excel.
  • Charting: You can now Shift-select labels in charts, which is useful for changing settings for multiple labels at once.

Grunt Tools

  • You can now delete shapes using Backspace without having to disengage Smart Selection first.

Bug fixes

  • We fixed multiple problems with date axes. A few known issues remain – which we are working on – but it should be much better to use now.
  • We fixed a bug that prevented a few users from getting access to Templates.
  • We solved an issue where you couldn't change the flag in the Flag modifier or the image in an Image modifier.
  • We fixed a problem that would sometimes make Images not appear when using the Image rule in Visual Grid – in particular when copying Grunts to other slides or other presentations.
  • We solved an undo bug that would sometimes put Grunt in a strange state.
